Santa Barbara, Calif. ─ May 7, 2007 ─ Network Hardware Resale (NHR), the leading provider of pre-owned and new networking equipment, has announced the addition of human resources executive John W. Young to its Board of Directors.
Young joins the NHR board after more than two decades with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. He joined Four Seasons in 1983 and provided policy guidance and systems support to the operating management, human resources and corporate staff. Young played a pivotal organizational role as the chain experienced rapid global growth, expanding to more than 60 hotels and resorts in 29 countries with more than 32,000 employees.
Spotlighting Young’s outstanding contribution and dedication, in a 2002 article in Forbes magazine, Four Seasons founder and CEO Isadore Sharp hailed Young as “the architect of Four Seasons’ human resources programs.” As executive vice president, Young was responsible for overseeing management selection, training, performance management, manpower planning, career path planning, management development, succession planning, labor/employee relations, employee communications as well as compensation and benefits policies for the company worldwide.
“We are thrilled to add an accomplished strategic human resources and organizational design executive like John to our board at a time when Network Hardware Resale is focused on aggressive expansion worldwide,” said Mike Sheldon, president and CEO of NHR. “John’s experience working with a world-class company focused on delivering the highest levels of personalized, quality service will prove instrumental as we continue to broaden NHR’s product and service portfolio.”
Young currently makes his home in Carmel, Calif., from where he serves as a consultant to clients in the media, educational and service sectors. He also is on the board of Elizabeth Arden Salons and Spas and Equinox Fitness as well as an operating advisor to North Castle Partners. Throughout his Four Seasons career, he served as a member of the Advisory Board for the School of Hospitality at Ryerson Polytechnic University, where he was also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, Faculty of Business.
